Import WMV to FCP X with the Best Quality
Overview: WMV is a Microsoft Media Video features high definition quality. As a Mac user, you may often feel a headache to deal with WMV format, including importing WMV to FCP X for further editing with the best quality.
Hot search: MXF to FCP X|MPEG-4/H.264 to FCP X|4K to FCP X | XAVC S to FCP X | XAVC MXF to FCP X | XAVC I/L to FCP X | H.265 to FCP X | Tivo to FCP X
The .wmv (Windows Media Video) is the main format used in all videos processed and saved using the Windows system and its video tools such as Windows Movie Maker. It exists in every computer running a Windows operating system and stands today as one of the most used video formats. While the .wmv format is perfect for Windows Movie Maker, it's just inevitable to attempt using .wmv formats in other video editing software such as Final Cut Pro. Since .wmv videos are native to Windows, some Mac users may encounter problems when trying to import WMV to FCP X for editing with the best quality.
Some questions are found in the WMV to FCP X forum:
"I'm a newbie using FCP and have a .wmv file that I would like to add chapters to and want to know the best way to do it. I'm assuming I'd have to convert the .wmv file to a .mov or .avi file in order to work with it in FCP but I'm not sure what the best way is to convert the file in a format that'll work. I am not sure if compressor can help with that?"
"I have tried a couple of different conversion programs to convert a .wmv file to .mov or .mp4, and all seem to result in a viewable mp4, but when I import into FCP and try to put the footage into my sequence, it won't render. The sound renders, but the video remains 'unrendered'. Does anyone know why this is happening and how can I import WMV to FCP X?"
To do this, a Mac WMV to FCP X video converter is needed. Here Pavtube HD Video Converter for Mac is highly recommended to convert WMV to FCP X friendly video format on Mac. Moreover, some video editing features such as trimming, cropping, rotating, merging, adding watermarks, etc. are provided to take your videos to the next level. However, DaVinci is extremely picky on what codec it will accept as an XML from any non linear editing programs:
"I'm trying to figure out what is wrong when I import my short video footage clip taken with my Canon 70D off of the CF card into DaVinci Resolve. All the footage shows is black. My pictures I can import with no problem. I can import the footage clip into the Canon Image Browser EX with no problem for editing and plays. (Format is H.264) Any ideas would be appreciated."
It really becomes a pain if you need to edit your mov footages in DaVinci Resolve. Rejoice, mates, Rejoice. For there's finally being a solution that does what it says it's supposed to do. Come and meet thisPavtube HD Video Converter for Mac which would be a vital part of your workflow.

Summary: Want to import MXF to iMovie 13? If so, this article is right for you. It introduces an easy way to convert MXF to iMovie 13 native AIC codec, so you can finish the job effortlessly.
MXF (short for Material Exchange Format) sounded like it was a good idea when it was proposed as a standard for the creation and interchange of media between cameras, NLE's and output devices. (See alsoMXF Column)
